Garden Workshop

Garden Workshop: Planting Vegetables

Raised bed/ Square-foot Gardening

Traditional Row Gardening

Are you interested in growing your own organic vegetables for your kitchen table this year? Jewel Czaja, of Simply Life, will demonstrate how to grow organic food right in your own backyard, in a raised bed or in a traditional row garden.  We will also discuss permaculture and see an example of a grapevine guild (where plants benefit each other and build the soil).

Participants will learn the ins and outs of organic vegetable gardening, including composting, building soil fertility, and crop rotation. Focusing on common vegetables, you will gain hands on experience in planting seeds and plants. You will also leave with a few vegetable plants to add to your own garden.

$15 per participant or family (families are welcome and encouraged to come)

Spring Gardening

Thank you to all the participants who made our first garden workshop a success!

We learned how to plant early in the spring and cover plants with row cover to protect from frost and pests.  We had eager young gardeners and experienced gardeners in our class.  We all learned from one another.
We all shared many tips about planting in the spring, soil fertility, and organic gardening.

The youngest and cutest participant, a future gardener.
