Elena's Hot Cocoa with Real Ingredients

When you come inside after sledding or being in the freezing cold, what do you want?
Hot Cocoa!

Add to pot on stove:
1/2 c. raw sugar
1 c. water
2 Tbsp. cocoa powder

Mix on medium heat.
When hot, add 4-5 c. milk
Heat to steaming, and enjoy!

  1. Jewel, my kids love hot chocolate milk for breakfast every morning and I've searched high and low for the healthiest "real"-est quick mix solution. "Alaska!" brand organic syrup tastes gross and doesn't mix in well. I now buy Bosco brand chocolate syrup - its not organic but uses cane juice and all natural ingredients - no artificial colors, flavors or preservatives. Our grocery stores also sell 1/2 gallons of the Horizons brand organic chocolate milk in the refrig sections and its only $0.30 more than the not-chocolate for same brand. Let me know if you ever stumble across any other convenient options. I know I wouldn't eat up all that stuff in a pot every morning but want my kids to have the healthiest hot chocolate milk they can each morning! Thanks for sharing!
