Granola Bars (Energy Protein Bars)

I finally made a granola bar that actually stuck together!  After seeing the prices of the protein bars in the grocery store, I thought, "I can make these!"  Well, I tried many recipes that have ended up being granola because there was no bar left when they crumbled.  This recipe is a combination of a few recipes from Healthy Choices by Keepers At Home.
Sucanat is an unrefined sugar.  Although better than white granulated sugar, I recommend using it in limited quantities.  Black strap molasses  is one of our favorite sweeteners because of its healthy benefits.

Granola Bars
1/2 c. butter, melted
1/2 c. honey
1/4 c. black-strap molasses
1 c. sucanat
2/3 c. natural peanut butter
3 c. quick oats or rolled oats
1/2 c. sunflower seeds
1/2 c. unsweetened coconut, shredded
1/2 c. raisins (optional)
1/2 c. almonds, walnuts, or pecans

Mix the first five ingredients in a pan on the stove until melted and dissolved.  Turn off heat.  Mix in other ingredients.  Press down into 9X13 greased pan.  Bake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes.  (Do not overbake, or they many crumble.  Cool, cut before they are too hard.

I made a double batch, so I had extra to wrap individually and save in the freezer.  Think of how much each one of these would cost in the grocery store!
