Are you interested in eating WHOLE GRAINS AND FOODS?

I am reading a super book with great new recipes for whole foods.
It is called Feeding the Whole Family by Cynthia Lair
She gives basic recipes for cooking whole grains that are common and new ones that I never tried before. I think these recipes will help keep boredom out of cooking with whole food. I want to try using wheat berries, spelt, millet, and quinoa. This week, I made wonderful whole wheat bread with a starter of leftover brown rice, which was delicious. Cynthia Lair also writes ideas to feed babies and children whole food at the bottom of the recipes.

I used her recipe for homemade applesauce, after getting a big box of seconds at our local orchard. It was so easy and fun. The kids have been begging me for months to get out the apple peeler/corer/slicer. They did all the work of coring and slicing. We left on the peels, and the kids still loved it. We added apple juice, cinnamon stick, and alittle salt. (no sugar) As an added bonus, we simmered it on top of the woodstove.

I also used her recipe for Lemon Cranberry Scones. I used oranges instead of lemons. They were delicious, although a little too healthy for the ladies brunch. No problem, we all love them!
